Sanctuary Marija Bistrica

Marija Bistrica is the largest national sanctuary. Veneration of Mary began in the 15th century, when the black statue of Our Lady became known for its miraculous powers. Sanctuary has a beautiful basilica by Pope Pius XI officially named the votive altar which was commissioned by the production of the Croatian Parliament 1715th g. The shrine has been constantly modernized and renewal, and its latest direct result of the visit of Pope John Paul II 1998th The shrine in Marija Bistrica is the site of the greatest and most important religious celebration, and visited each year by between 500 and 800 thousand pilgrims.
